This was a delightful listen! I'm with you and absoluteM that there's been no games in Hospital Playlist. It's really just been us as viewers projecting our own expectations onto the characters and the drama or coming up with wild theories and forcefully finding the "evidence" that supports it. I have my moments too lol but at the end of the day, I just need to take a step back and remind myself to enjoy how ShinLee chooses to unfold the stories. There are no throwaway scenes or lines and I trust ShinLee to show the intentions behind each of them.
Thanks as always for this, such a gem to listen too.
And like you guys, I've veered away from overanalysing the drama especially the previews. I've never done that kind of millisecond reviewing the previews in other dramas nor in season 1, but I was sucked into it when ShinLee started with the Gyeoul's family background and her reticence to share with Jeongwon. However, it was counterproductive in my watching experience, hence I am reverting to the real me- not minding the previews and staying away from posts that tends to overanalyse upcoming episodes. 😆
When you guys were discussing IkSong and if there are meanings with ShinLee positioning their scenes mostly after Mama Rosa and Dir Ju, it made me appreciate the writing and directorial deftness of ShinLee, as these parallelism can go either way and it would make sense on both sides. If they get together or remain as friends, it won't be OOC, hence I give that to the ShinLee.
As for the friendship, what I found interesting is that it is a solid one but they are not a talkative bunch, whether about their personal life or even philosophical discussion. They do talk, if Songhwa is the one initiating the personal talks. No TMI for the lacking 4.
Gyeoul's reticence- I can understand from real-life perspective and timeline, for someone who is not innately open and especially if it is really family "secrets", then not sharing even if you've been together for 1+ years is realistic for me. This is where the preview (and my being sucked into preview expectation comes in), it did have a way of increasing my expectation that now they will unravel it in this episode and if they didn't the impatient side of me comes out.
Yes, especially when it makes some not able to enjoy the show as they did and as the show intended. Thank you for the podcast! I do hope that we get some clarity on GU and some progress in WG communication in Ep10, though... but trying to manage my expectation 😊 and appreciate whatever they show on Thur.
It was great fun chatting again. And I forgot to squeal over the fact that Mama Rosa was so pleased over Gyeol's unexpected visit to her hospital room in eps 8. Cannot wait to see how S2 will wrap up.
That was a highlight for me too. It's such a blessed contrast to the usual wealthy Kdrama mums. Will Seok-hyeong's mother be the cheerleader for the Kdrama trope though?
Thanks for being such a willing conversational partner.

Thanks for tuning in and for commenting.
Making up theories can be fun until it isn't and then it becomes stressful. :D
Always my pleasure 😊 hope you feel a 100% soon!
