I devored with enjoyment the Thursday Next books. Thank you for reminding me.
It seems to me that quite a number of persons are attracted by cdramas in a sort of kdramas fatigue. For me at least, the predictability and laudability are currently in the avantage column. They are less demanding of attention, and less emotionnaly immersive so easier to watch with the brain switched off. I'm exagerating. However I have found myself drown to cdrama more easily in the past months.
I've always been able to compartmentalize and watch C and K dramas at the same time without thinking too much about the differences. But it could well be a case of drama fatigue too. I also am of the view that K dramas tend to get a lot more praise -- overpraise in many instances because they have garnered so much popularity (justifiably) over the years. But lately I'm thinking that C dramas are somewhat more grounded whereas K dramas are going for the shock factor.
Thanks for suggesting May it Please the Court....I was despairing at the crap that is currently being aired, including Blind which is beyond silly, given it's potential narrative and cast. Maybe I have reached Kdrama saturation point, it's all a bit predictable after a while. I suppose it had to happen but when they're good they really are amazing.
Part of the problem is that some of them are just too long. Blind should have been a 10-12 episode drama at the very most. They're literally running interference on their own show.
