Ah... you have reached this arc.

The moment between Ah Yao and Shao Shang moved me.

As you mentioned, this was a point they grew up. They both realised the complexities of the world they live in and how their own happiness may not be as important for the greater good.

Marriage to He Xiao Jun brings many advantages to Ah Yao's side of the family such as He resources and army since everyone else has perished, while marriage to Shao Shang gets him a bride praised by the King.

I felt very moved when Shao Shang pulled him aside and advised him about what he should do. My heart broke for Ah Yao too when he realised he had to sacrifice his happiness. I still feel that if Shao Shang and Ah Yao had followed through with their wedding, they might have been a comfortable couple but not a passionate couple.

Zi Sheng is going full steam ahead now at wooing (in his own way) Shao Shang now that she is no longer engaged. I don't like Yuan Shen's method of wooing (with his snide remarks) and he does get worse at this later on. But you are right, he is being the classroom bully who shows his liking of someone by being contrary.

We have a way to go and I look forward to your thoughts once we enter the next arc.
