I came across your blog from a link in reddit and I just want to say how much I love your insights.

I agree with what you said Ik-Sun's room mate. So many ppl on other forums are just assuming the worse that Ik-sun lied about his roomie and that she has something to hide. In the first instance, I thought he had been pretty upfront that he know Junwan is the boyfriend etc etc. He could have been more reassuring with explaining the accident, but a layman trying to explain an injury over the phone to a medical expert is never going to be reassuring in any way (short of passing the phone to the attending doctor).

I trust PD Shin to not throw in tropes like this... it may be nothing to worry, just as in the case in Ep 1 with the mum who keeps coming to visit Gyeo-ul in the ward.

Rewatching Hospital Playlist and reading your previous posts about it have taught me that PD Shin loves to put out red herrings. The situation of Ik-Sun probably having an affair with her roommate feels more likely a red herring.

To be honest, Jun-Wan is the character I never particularly warmed up to even with the introduction of his relationship with Ik-Sun. I agree that he seems to be out of touch and the only time I could see his warmth is when he interacts with Song-Hwa (brotherly love amidst the food stuffing).

I'm quite pleased, though, that he's now being portrayed to show a bit more warmth to his patients and to Jae-Hak. Jun-Wan noticing that his patient had a haircut and explaining in layman's terms why she feels lightheaded feels to me like a character development. Having said this, I feel that episode 4 might be a Jun-Wan episode.

Chu Min-Ha arguing with the guardians caught me off-guard. I felt uncomfortable and I wonder if this is a character development that will be explored more in the next episodes. Chu Min-Ha has always been calm, collected and a bit passive and this reaction was a deviation.

Ah... WinterGarden... After serving crumbs in episode 2, we were given so much to digest in episode 3 and what a treat that was. Like what Gyeo-ul said, Jeong-Won is a ticking time bomb, who just wants to tell the world he's in love. Him pouting that he doesn't want Gyeo-ul addressing him so formally is just way too adorable. One can't help but love this guy. Obviously, Gyeo-ul is finding his mini-tantrums adorable, as well.

The Ik-Jun/Gyeo-ul/Jeong-Won scene is comedy gold. Ik-Jun was true to his word in episode 2 that he wants to tell everyone that Gyeo-ul and Jeong-Won are dating (hahahaha!). Yes, very sly!

Song-Hwa's conversation with the violinist's brother was very obvious. But as I mentioned, I've learned to hold my breath because PD Shin loves red herrings and I think this is another example. If Ik-Song is endgame, I don't think it will happen this early in the season even if the preview of the next episode appears like Ik-Song are on a date (the two walking while talking).

For now, I'm just glad that they remain good friends. It's now Song-Hwa who goes to Ik-Jun to invite him to have dinner rather than the other way around.

I also feel that when they're alone eating, they feel like an old married couple. They know each other's quirks and they trust each other completely. I'm probably reading too much at this point but I'm just glad they're still good friends.

I love that 5mins between Jeongwon picking Gyeoul up to when they kissed in front of her house. Brilliantly written, including that scene interjection of Seokhyung and his mom. I laughed and squealed and laughed and squealed. I think everyone can't process that Jeongwon and Gyeoul are dating even if they saw it with their own eyes and so they are intepreting it in all sorts of ways eg. He is gentlemanly etc etc. It'll be hilarious going forward that these 2 are trying to be discrete, Jeongwon keeps slipping and everyone is trying to figure out are they or are they not.

Season 2 have managed to make me cry every episode. I bawled during the conversation between Yeon-U's mom and Gyeoul. I teared at the thank you card from Kim Sujeong to Seokhyung, and I bawled again when Eunji's mom cried in the garden. As promised, the patient stories are much deeper than Season 1 and I'm really enjoying that aspect of the show. I want little Eunji to have a new heart!

I just need to point out that Dr. Bong's description of Ik-Jun (in season 1) is spot-on. This is a guy who has no insecurities whatsoever. He just sees the goodness in everyone. He was surprised to learn that he has a rival even when all his friends know this. He was equally surprised to learn that the tickets Heong-Do gave him was a trick so he would bomb the exams. He had to validate it from Heong-Do himself that his uncle does not own the club but is a Buddhist monk.

I agree with your observations on the Jeongwon/Gyeoul dynamics. They're just your newly in love couple so the bit of aegyo were justified in my opinion! Jeongwon does seem to have that childlike behaviour in him so I could get by with all that aegyo and them being flirty with each other.

I actually thought it was rather obvious that Songhwa felt uncomfortable because she knew of Ikjun's true feelings for her. To ask him to be her pretend boyfriend would be to toy with his feelings and it would be borderline cruel to do that. So of course she isn't going to do that to him! There was no reason for her to be remotely uncomfortable when it's Jeongwon because she knows he is happily in love with Gyeoul anyway.

The conversation she had with Looney though, is interesting because his story is a direct parallel to hers. It caught her completely off guard, but I think this scene was there for a reason and that is to show her that there are success stories for best friends turn lovers, too. She is definitely going to see him in a different light after this like what Looney said in his instance. When Ikjun shows up and sticks a straw into his nose, she laughed despite the entire conversation and what it entailed. She laughed because it is a fact that, echoing Looney's words, he makes her happy.
