I'm loving Pursuit of Jade! it's gorgeous, the side characters have their own lives/stories, and I haven't been bored once! I love that the FL is a butcher and strong ( and even more amazing that such a small actress actually carried him)
I finally had a chance to listen to parts of this discussion and always enjoy getting to hear what you both get to say when I am watching the same dramas. I did enjoy "Unveil: Jadewind", though I felt it could have also been better. Something about the pacing and the way the drama ended made me wish for more of an oomph factor. It is definitely much better than what could have been worse, because like you said too, C-dramas can easily go haywire any moment. I do think the drama did great with the character of Huai Jin, because he's not the typical lead where they would usually have actually strong martial arts. Here, they let Pei Yi take the stage.
I am in loveee with "Pursuit of Jade" and find myself just fangirling over the director's way of helming this story and the screenwriters who adapted this for the screen. I am hoping it'll be a solid drama to the end.
I certainly think Unveiled: Jadewind could have been better if they maintained the pacing all throughout. I think some arcs were dragged unnecessarily because it was obvious that they wanted to make a statement about this or that.
I'm eager to have a look at Pursuit of Jade since everyone seems very hyped about it.
